Recently purchased from a local dealer. I've recently returned to the world of strength training after a long, long break and have been outfitting a home gym. I have a disability that severely impairs my balance and use a cane 99% of the time, so training with free weights was out; I would topple over trying to balance so I've been purchasing equipment to suit my particular needs. I picked up an Inspire M4 home gym with weight stack, it's an amazing piece of equipment and super high quality. For cardio I've been using a hand me down recumbent bike with magnetic resistance but found it to be uncomfortable and I was not satisfied with the calorie burn rate even at high levels of exertion; also it's all legs and as mentioned the legs have issues..so I began looking for another piece for cardio that involved legs AND upper body. I tried seated ellipticals, rowers of different types and whatever else I could jump on in the extensive showroom. Enter the CR2. I knew after about 30 seconds this thing was different. Due to the expense I kept trying other rowers etc but none of them even came close, this thing is a beast and would be at home in a medieval torture chamber. I've only used it in a serious workout capacity 3 times since I set it up so this review is based on short term use, but oh boy, punishment. I'll grant the soreness is (probably) mostly due to new body movements but even at the lowest resistance setting this machine is hard to keep going, you gotta WORK, and that means pushing on the return stroke. Keep in mind there is nothing supporting your back, so what do you push with? Your core. Now I'm not an athlete but I've been hitting it hard for about 5 months and have gotten into decent shape, I would challenge the average person to do this for 5 minutes and I suspect someone in very good shape would struggle to hit 15 or 20 minutes on this and would feel it the next day. I've had to keep it going with just legs for a few reps to give my upper body (which is not afflicted with any malady) a break. If you were to have one piece of exercise equipment in your home that checks off both the cardio and overall workout boxes I cannot think of anything better. I would recommend finding a dealer and trying one out before purchase due to the cost, and it may not feel right for everybody. I would have given this 4 stars only due to the short review period but I don't think my rating can be changed later. I will come back and provide an update after I've had a chance to abuse myself further with this thing. NOTE: The display is not back lit and kind of difficult to see, and you'll need a chest strap or some other HRM to broadcast heart rate to the unit's receiver in order to view calories burned. This is not a bad thing since any equipment that claims to count calories burned without a heart rate monitor is lying. You also input your age into the computer so it can calculate your expected maximum heart rate for more accurate calculations.

This thing is very heavy and was delivered by a freight company that was not interested in anything but curb-side delivery, even when I offered to pay more, as my husband was out of town when it came in. But leaving the logistics of delivery aside, it's been a dream machine. It was pretty easy to assemble. It is very quiet and very sturdy. And it is.a great workout both of us, This is no small fete, as I have a knee that has undergone several surgeries, cannot bend past 80 degrees and is terribly arthritic. Other than the normal trouble caused by using it excessively on occasion, my knee has no complaints about this machine either.

Great total workout

My wife was looking for a conventional rower, but while looking at home gym equipment at the MN State Fair a rep from Inspire sold us on the CR2.1. I was skeptical that it would provide much of a workout until I gave it a try and cranked up the resistance. I nearly pulled a muscle in my back, so you have to be careful. Being at the fair, we got a good price (1299 with a heart rate belt - delivered and fully assembled). We have had it a month now and I have been very impressed with the total workout it provides. It is very low impact, which is a godsend as I have gout in my feet and I have bad knees. Already, my weight is dropping and I feel stronger. The machined is extremely well built and should last years.
